Duties and Responsibilities of the Village Police
1. He will guard and patrol the union day and night.
2. He will investigate and suppress all matters related to crime and will assist the police to the best of his ability in arresting criminals.
3. He will assist the Chairman and the Union Parishad.
4. Unless otherwise instructed, he will inform the officer-in-charge of the concerned police station about the situation in the area every fortnight.
5. He will observe the movements of people of bad character in the union and will inform the officer-in-charge of the police station from time to time. He will inform the officer-in-charge of the police station about the presence of any suspicious person coming from the neighboring area.
6. He will report to the officer-in-charge of the police station about any person hiding in the union, who takes public income for his living or who cannot give a satisfactory answer regarding his own identity.
7. The officer-in-charge of the police station shall be informed of all matters which may cause conflict, riot or disturbance of public peace.
8. If any information is received about the organization or intention to commit the following crimes in the union, it shall be immediately reported to the officer-in-charge of the police station. Such as:
(a) Riot
(b) Secretly removing a dead body and concealing information about birth.
(c) Taking a child out of the house and pushing him to his death.
(d) Damage caused by fire.
(e) Harming or harming cattle by using poison.
9. The birth and death register shall be maintained and the council shall be informed of all births and deaths in the area.
10. The Mohalladar and Dafadar can arrest without the order and warrant of the magistrate. For example, if someone commits a crime not punishable by law, or who has any illegal device or stolen goods, or who escapes from jail and hides in the village, etc. They should be handed over to the police station as soon as possible.
11. He will provide any local information for the purpose of government work.
12. He will assist the revenue officials in collecting and collecting rent or land development tax, local tax fees or any other dues.
In addition, the village police perform some other important duties. For example, if there is an unusual death or murder in the area, guard the body and stay with it until it reaches the police station. When the police station comes to the area, they are always present. They provide general assistance to any high-ranking government official who visits the area, issue court case notices and work according to the orders of the chairman and members. The village police are currently also working under the joint control of the Union Parishad. They have to appear at the police station every week and always at the Union Parishad office. They have to be present at the village adarat trials. In this way, it can be seen that the village police have been performing various duties.
